The United Way couldn’t function without the tireless efforts of it’s volunteers. They are constantly running events and programs that need people from the community to step up and help out. It can be fun and very rewarding so please take a look at the opportunities list to see if you can do your part for Thunder Bay.
- The United Way of Thunder Bay is recruiting volunteers to assist in administration & reception. Duties may include welcoming and directing visitors, answering and re-directing phone calls and collating print materials. Other opportunities are also available with upcoming special events.
- The GenNext Cabinet is looking for new members to join in the fun with our Education/Awareness Committee.
Allocations Committee Volunteers
- We are presently looking for people with experience in Accounting and Finances
Each year the United Way of Thunder Bay receives funding applications from various social service agencies here in Thunder Bay. The Allocation Committee consists of approximately 40 volunteers – 7 teams who review all funding requests and make the recommendations for the distribution of the United Way Community Fund.
We are now recruiting volunteers who can assist the Allocation teams by reviewing and giving a better opinion on agency’s past financial performance and their present and upcoming budgets.
The entire Allocation process is carried out from October and November each year. We provide all the information and necessary training to ensure each person has a positive and worthwhile experience and new volunteers will work with an experienced committee chair and panel members.
