There are so many ways to put your heart into making a difference. Volunteering is a great way to contribute and develop your skills while connecting with others who share your passion and commitment. Short-term projects or longer-term commitments are always available in your community to suit your interests.
Leadership volunteers head up fundraising, health promotion, communication and volunteer development teams in each community. Community leaders thrive on building teams, connecting with others and developing strategies to achieve goals.
- Office administration and customer service
Our local offices depend on administrative volunteers to manage data and information and interact with the public. Administrative volunteers have general office / basic computer skills and customer service experience.
- Public awareness, education and advocacy (mission volunteers)
Within the local community, Mission volunteers help cultivate partnerships that engage the community, healthcare providers and government to advance the health of Ontarians. Whether working on the Foundation’s childhood obesity initiative, Spark Together for Healthy Kids™ or supporting the delivery of our resuscitation program in your community, you likely have skills that would benefit the cause. If you like initiating social change, enhancing public health education and awareness, enjoy building new relationships and have a passion for the mission of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, this could be the role for you!
A significant portion of revenue for research, education and social change is generated through community-based events such as Jump Rope for Heart, February’s Heart Month campaign, Big Bike among others. These initiatives require thousands of volunteers to ensure their success. We are always looking for people to help in the planning and coordination of these events and for people to help with event day logistics.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation runs community-based programs in offices all across Ontario. Wherever you live in Ontario, you can connect with our events and initiatives to get involved as a volunteer.
