Description

The purpose of the reading tent program is to provide a place where children, parents and caregivers can share the joy of reading, books, and storytelling. Helping children develop a love of reading is an important step in helping them become successful readers. Reading with children during the summer is especially important as it helps to reduce the ‘learning loss’ that occurs when children do not have the routines of school.

We are looking for volunteers in Thunder Bay, ages 14+, who:

  • Can contribute to being a team player.
  • Possesses a love of reading. Read with enjoyment and enthusiasm to children.
  • Can assist with set-up and take-down of the reading tent and book distribution.
